xii Letter of Transmittal. In the preparation of this volume for the press the editor has had the as sistance of Mr. Charles Fickus of the staff of the Maryland Historical Society. The carefully prepared index is the work of Miss Elizabeth Mann. The next volume of the Archives, which is now in press and will appear in the near future, is the Proceedings of the Provincial Court, 1663-1666.
