Maps, Plats, and Charts: An Illustrated History of the Cartography and Cartographers of Maryland
by
Dr. Edward C. Papenfuse

The one hundred and third volume of the Archives of Maryland series was published in 2000, under the direction of the Maryland State Archives. This volume contains an illustrated history of the cartography and cartographers of Maryland.

Please note, this volume is under construction and is unavailable. For more on this topic, please see the Maryland State Archives Atlas of Historical Maps of Maryland, 1608-1908 (Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press, 2003) by Edward C. Papenfuse and Joseph M. Coale, III. Copies are available in the Archives' Search Room. If you are interested in purchasing a copy of the atlas, ordering information can be found at: http://www.mdarchives.state.md.us/msa/intromsa/html/mapbook.html

The first digital edition of the Archives of Maryland series is being published by the Maryland State Archives through a grant from the Information Technology Fund of the State of Maryland. As part of an ongoing effort to provide greater access to Maryland Legal History, the Archives has brought the printed Archives of Maryland series online and expanded the contents with links to scans of historical documents.
