begins as fiscal year-end closing
statements pour in, to be
reconciled by the professionals in
the General Accounting Division of
the State Comptroller's Office.
Maryland's wide recognition as a
leader in the field of financial
reporting reflects an important
function of the Comptroller's
Office.

But at the same time that fiscal
year 1991's books were being
closed, the comptroller's other
responsibilities were being carried
out 24 hours a day, seven days a
week, across Maryland and our
nation.
