LAWS OF MARYLAND OF 1936

MARYLAND , Sct.:

At an Extraordinary Session of the General Assembly of
Maryland, begun and held in the City of Annapolis,
on the Eighth day of December, 1936, and ending
on the Twelfth day of December, 1936, the
Honorable Harry W. Nice being Governor of the
State, the following laws were enacted, to wit:

CHAPTER 1.

AN ACT to add a new Article to the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1924 Edition), said new Article to be known
as Article 95A, and to be entitled "Unemployment Com-
pensation," to promote the general welfare of the State
by providing a system of unemployment compensation for
certain classes of workers in this State; creating an un-
employment compensation fund and providing for the
collection of contributions to and the payment of benefits
from said fund; creating an unemployment compensa-
tion administration fund; providing for the administra-
tion of this Act under the supervision of the Board of
Public Works, and the appointment of executive directors
and other personnel; prescribing penalties for the viola-
tions of the provisions hereof; and establishing a system
of free public re-employment offices; and formally ac-
cepting the provisions of the Title 29, Section 49 (c) of
the United States Code Annotated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new Article be, and the same is hereby
added to the Annotated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition),
said new Article to be known as Article 95A, to be entitled
"Unemployment Compensation," and to read as follows:

ARTICLE 95-A

UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION
SHORT TITLE.

1. This Act shall be known and may be cited as the
"Unemployment Compensation Law."
