JOINT RESOLUTIONS

NO. 1.

A Joint Resolution presenting to Hon. Albert C. Ritchie,
Governor of Maryland, the Old Desk and Chair in his
Library in the Executive Mansion.

WHEREAS, Hon. Albert C. Ritchie has been Governor of
the State for a longer period than any other person; and

WHEREAS, During all these years he has used the old
desk and chair in his library in the Executive Mansion in
the transaction of a great deal of the State's business; and

WHEREAS, As a slight token of appreciation of services he
has rendered the State and in recognition of the sentiment
which the old desk and chair must have for him; therefore,

Be it Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the old desk and chair in the library in the Governor's
Office in the Executive Mansion be and it is hereby pre-
sented to Hon. Albert C. Ritchie, Governor of Maryland,
•with the request that he accept it as a token of the high
esteem in which he is held by the people of Maryland.

A Joint Resolution inviting Honorable Franklin Delano
Roosevelt, President of the United States, to address the
members of the General Assembly of Maryland.

WHEREAS, The Honorable Franklin Delano Roosevelt has
demonstrated such remarkable powers of leadership during
the greatest economic depression in the history of our coun-
try, and has shown such a deep understanding of and sym-
pathy for the suffering and distress of his fellow country-
men, that he has endeared himself to all of our citizens
irrespective of party, race or creed; and

WHEREAS, The people of Maryland would deem it a high
honor, and the members of the General Assembly a rare
